Batman 1960ies Complete Series On DVD

A little over 4 decades ago the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) aired a series based on the DC Comic Batman character. The series began in January 1966 and would end in March 1968. Over that two and a half year period 120 episodes were aired a feat that would normally take five years to complete. Children of all ages gathered around their television sets on Wednesday and Thursday nights to catch the latest adventure of the cape crusader. Finally after more than 4 decades after the series ended the Batman 1960ies Complete Series On DVD is available; all 120 episodes in chronological order.

The series starred Adam West as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Burt Ward as Dick Grayson/Robin. They had the daunting task of bringing these characters to life and capturing the imagination of an adoring audience. Back then the show seemed perhaps a little corny but at the same time it was fun to watch Batman and Robin taking on an odd assortment of villains that are still fresh in our memories to this day. There was the Riddler, the Penguin, the Joker and Mr. Freeze to name a few. When the dynamic duo were engaged in hand to hand combat and hit one of the bad guys the screen would light up with a animated "POW" or "ZONK". It was cheesy but very fun to watch.

Although the series typically followed the same format every episode it still grabbed our attention. It always started off with one of those famous villains taking over Gotham City or stealing some valuable gem. Then you were in Commissioner Gordon's office where he and Chief O'Hara discussed the situation, which of course always called for the Commissioner to pull out the red Bat Phone and call the home of Bruce Wayne/Batman for assistance. Bruce and Dick were normally enjoying a casual conversation when the phone call would come in and the butler Alfred would take the call. Once informed of the dastardly deed Bruce would yell "To the Bat Poles", and he would push the button in the Shakespeare bust, which opened the bookcase and revealed the poles. They were down them in a jiffy and as they descended they were dressed into their costumes and wound up in the Bat Cave.

Here they could jump in the Bat mobile and go save the day. It is hard not to talk about the series and not be taken back to those special evenings 4 decades ago. No, the series Batman was not the dark character portrayed in today's blockbuster movies but he was right for the time and he stole the heart of many children who needed a hero to look up to. You can pick this Batman 1960ies Complete Series On DVD Set online for around $60 on sale. It is time to head for the Bat Poles fans.
